Social work in a digital world. Digital work in a social world.
Our society has been constantly changing due to digitalisation, globalisation and, more recently, the pandemic. Social work was a profession that continuously had to adapt to the ongoing transformation brought about by media, IT, and technological developments. As always, social work remained committed to empowering society to change and enabling individuals to help themselves. It continued to be a profession rooted in the promotion of human rights, striving to make the world a better place for all. In this context, it might even have evolved into a more socially networked world.
Upon completion of the course, students understood key factors driving societal change and the cohesive as well as divisive effects of digitalisation. They were trained in the application of digital methods in social work and engaged in discussions on both the advantages and disadvantages. Furthermore, they developed their own approaches to digital communication within the field.
